There is no wonder Corfu is one of the most popular Greek Islands, yet despite its tremendous popularity as a holiday destination Corfu remains in many ways unspoilt.

Must See
Corfu has something to offer just about anyone. Corfu Town has several archaeological sites as well as a decent archaeological museum. It also has two old Venetian forts worth visiting. The beaches along the western coast are of white sand whereas the eastern beaches are mostly pebble. You can find just about any water sport you want on Corfu from jet skiing to canoeing. For children there is a large water park at Agios Ioannis.

Shopping
Mainly situated in the capital's centre, shops in Corfu are very diverse and numerous. Many of the shops sell local items such as jewellery, leather goods, local ceramics and olive wood objects as well as various other touristy items. The more touristy shops tend to be open all day long until late in the night, every day of the week.

After Dark
In the large restaurants and small tavernas (which you will discover by strolling along the kantounia (alleys) of the old town) you can taste pastitsada, sofrito and other Corfiot specialities, all of course accompanied by the aromatic local wine. Try the fresh fish at the coastal villages of Corfu, lobster at Palaiokastritsa and well-cooked game at the mountainous villages of Pantokrator.

Corfu is famous for its rich and lively nightlife, so a great destination for party people. The capital offers a wide variety of bars and cafes proposing various kind of music, suitable for every taste. Other big nightspots are situated outside Corfu Town, mostly concentrated in the beach resorts of Kavos, Roda, Ypsos, Gouvia and Dassia which also offers an incredible amount of lively bars.
