Must See
Bangkok's endless array of temples, 'Wats', are at the heart and soul of the city. There are so many scattered across the capital - large or small, imposing or hidden away... each and every one unique. Wat Phra Kaeo, home to the Emerald Buddha, is one of Thailand's most famous temples. Situated inside the grounds of the Grand Palace and adorned in coloured glass and dazzling pieces of pottery, the structure is truly spectacular. Wat Po, Bangkok's largest temple, is home to the Reclining Buddha. At 46 metres long, the Buddha is the biggest statue in the whole of Thailand, covered entirely in gold leaf and with the soles of its feet adorned with beautiful mother of pearl. As temples are Thailand's most sacred places, tourists are asked to cover knees/legs and arms when visiting.

Shopping
Handicraft centres, night bazaars, flower markets, antique shops, exclusive boutiques, electronic centres and fantastically colourful food markets... With an exhausting number of options, Bangkok is every shopaholic's dream. The maze of stalls in Chatuchak Weekend Market are phenomenal - pick up real labels, flawless copies and handicrafts at low, low prices, but always barter as most sellers will knock at least 50 per cent before they let you walk away! Siam's large, air-conditioned shopping malls offer funky clothing boutiques and electrical bargains. One of the best times to shop in the city is after dark, mainly because it's so much cooler. Most malls are open until 9pm and many of the night bazaars stay open until 11pm or midnight.

After Dark
Eating out in Thailand is one of the most unique dining experiences you're ever likely to encounter - choose from street vendors, expansive food courts, market stalls, noodle bars and countless restaurants, each offering its own character and style of cuisine. But be warned - if you're used to eating Thai food in the UK, you'll probably find the local equivalent to your favourite dish much, much spicier!

From relaxed and enjoyable to wild and rowdy, you'll find it all in Bangkok. As diverse as its people, the nightlife here encompasses live music, super trendy bars, exuberant dance venues, jazz clubs and amazing restaurants. The famed Go Go bars are still there, but the once sleazy image has been eradicated and they are now part of a much wider entertainment scene.
